EU Ecolabel
The EU Ecolabel is an official European Union label marking “green” products and services, i.e. those that have a less harmful impact on the environment along their lifecycle. In this way, products and services contribute to the goal of climate neutrality of the European Union and the establishment of a circular economy.
EU Ecolabel for tourism service providers
The procedure for obtaining the “EU Ecolabel” mark is prescribed by Regulation (EC) no. 66/2010 of the European Parliament and the Council of November 25, 2009 on the EU environmental label, the Regulation on the environmental protection label of the European Union – EU Ecolabel (OG 116/2016, 28/2022).
Along with other products and services, the EU Ecolabel mark is awarded to service providers in tourism, i.e., “tourist accommodation” service providers, and its achievement can supplement the marketing strategy of tourist accommodation with significant economic, energy, and resource savings.
The group of products “tourist accommodation” includes the provision of tourist accommodation and camping services and any of the following ancillary services managed by the tourist accommodation provider:
- catering services
- recreational or leasure facilities
- green areas
- rooms for unique events like business conferences, meetings or training
- sanitary facilities, washing and cooking facilities or facilities providing information available to tourists in camps, travelers and accommodated persons for common use
Study on the compliance of products and/or services with the standards of the European Union - EU Ecolabel
In order to obtain the “EU Ecolabel” mark, a Study on compliance of products and/or services with the prescribed standards is prepared.
The company CROTEH d.o.o. has the authorization of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development to carry out expert work in environmental protection, i.e. the authorization for “Development of studies on product compliance with standards in the process of obtaining the environmental protection mark “Friend of the Environment” and the EU Ecolabel”.
In accordance with the procedure for awarding the mark, the Study in question is submitted together with the corresponding Request to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, which, in cooperation with the national Commission, decides on awarding the EU Ecolabel mark.
Last year, we composed a Study on product compliance with the standards of the European Union – EU Ecolabel, and we participated in the process of obtaining the environmental protection mark for Terme Sveti Martin.
